Max
Directed by Menno Meyjes

Grotuu the Unspeakable's Review:

This movie is about a three-limbed creature (who apparently had four once, like other mammals) referred to as Max, who befriends a delightful young artist named Adolf Hitler. Hitler, frustrated by the failure of his artistic endeavors, explores new avenues for his creativity and finds that there is power in the combination of art and politics, particularly in the use of religious iconography, something Grotuu took careful note of.

Grotuu found this movie quite engrossing, particularly the exciting close call where young Hitler almost missed his true calling.

Matt Milton's Review:

This movie is about a maimed former painter (Max Rothman) and his relationship with his future nemesis, the then-unknown Adolf Hitler. There's a lot of talking about art (which was done much better in Unbreakable and The Transformers) and some arguing about anti-Semitism, but no true cinematic conflict. There's a lot of build-up towards a major fight scene at the end, but don't get the movie for that. It's a major let-down. Hitler doesn't even use any of his gadgets.

Ed Phillips's Review:

Anything with john Cuesack is going to suck. No suprise here!!!

Calvin Schultz's Review:

Max is another attempt by a liberal foreign writer to put down American values, particularly in foreign policy. Clearly, this "Adolf Hitler" character is meant to be a parody of John Ashcroft, and the one-armed painter is some kind of "liberal enlightened one" who babbles about "art" and whines about war and "propaganda" and "anti-Semitism." In this movie, Hitler stands up bravely for decency, family, and the honest necessity of a righteous war. If the real Hitler had been anything like the character in this movie, Germany would have been in good hands.

Judith Tolbert's Review:

I liked this movie. It had a clear message. After I read it, I went home and tried to kill myself, but Grotuu wouldn't let me. Grotuu is in my home. Grotuu is in my car. Grotuu is at my desk. His might pervades all things and all people. Praise Grotuu, He Who Reigns. Please . . . no more leeches. No more leeches.

Carolyn Maccabee's Review:

In this movie we see the subtle molding of a young Adolf Hitler by the enigmatic "Max," a ritually amputated agent of the T5 Consortium. The Consortium has operated for centuries in this manner, building and maneuvering quasi-mystical demagogues into power and using them to establish seemingly mad breeding programs and racial purges. Hitler, Manson, Vlad the Impaler, and Calvin Coolidge are all examples of their work. No doubt the poor distribution of this film is due in part to their influence.
